Kia Pakistan has revised prices for its Sportage L and Sorento hybrid models, with increases ranging from Rs900,000 to Rs1.2 million. The company has linked the changes to Pakistan’s revised sales tax on hybrid vehicles rather than a manufacturer-led price increase. The new prices come as Pakistan’s auto industry adjusts to changes in the tax treatment of hybrid electric vehicles. Hybrids previously benefited from reduced sales tax rates of 8.5% or 12.75%, depending on the category. The latest tax regime has raised the applicable rate to 25%, increasing the final cost for buyers. Sportage, Sorento Get Major Price Increases The Kia Sportage L 1.6T FWD HEV now carries an offer price of Rs12.199 million. It previously cost Rs11.299 million, resulting in an increase of Rs900,000. Meanwhile, the Sportage L 1.6T AWD HEV has risen from Rs12.240 million to Rs13.299 million. Buyers will now pay Rs1.059 million more for the all-wheel-drive hybrid. Kia has also revised prices across the Sorento hybrid lineup. The Sorento 1.6T FWD HEV now costs Rs16.299 million, compared with Rs15.299 million previously. That translates into a Rs1 million increase. The Sorento 1.6T AWD HEV has received the biggest increase among models with comparable previous prices. Its price has climbed by Rs1.2 million, from Rs16.699 million to Rs17.899 million. The company did not provide a comparable previous offer price for this variant. The latest figures make Kia’s electrified SUV range considerably more expensive for Pakistani customers. Higher Sales Tax Drives Hybrid Price Hikes Importantly, Kia has attributed the increases to the revised sales tax rather than changing the underlying vehicle prices on its own. Its latest announcement specifically notes that the adjustment follows the revised sales tax. The tax change has affected the wider hybrid car market as well. Other manufacturers have also revised prices following changes to the concessions previously available for hybrid vehicles. Toyota, Honda, Hyundai, Suzuki and Chery are among brands that have adjusted hybrid prices, according to Pakistani automotive industry reports. However, several concessions were scheduled to run only until June 30, 2026, according to official FBR documents. For Kia buyers, the impact is now clear. Depending on the model, purchasing a Sportage or Sorento hybrid requires between Rs900,000 and Rs1.2 million more than before. The company’s official website continues to market the Sportage L in FWD HEV and AWD HEV configurations, with both using a 1.6-litre turbo hybrid powertrain.
