Yango and Jazz Team Up to Ease Financial Pressure on Drivers

Yango Pakistan has partnered with Jazz Business to introduce discounted mobile voice and internet packages for partner drivers and couriers in Pakistan’s largest cities.

The initiative will initially cover Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad and aims to reduce operating costs for ride hailing and delivery workers who rely heavily on mobile connectivity to stay active on digital platforms.

According to Yango Pakistan, partner drivers and couriers will gain access to telecom bundles at nearly 50% lower prices than standard market rates.

The company said the initiative would help drivers reduce monthly spending on internet and call packages while improving communication, navigation and order management during daily operations.

Ride hailing and delivery services across Pakistan have become increasingly dependent on stable mobile internet, particularly as app based transport and courier services continue expanding in major urban centres.

Yango said internal research and driver feedback showed that most drivers currently spend between PKR 1,200 and PKR 1,500 every month on data and voice packages to remain active on the platform.

Rising Costs Push Companies Toward Driver Support

Pakistan’s ride hailing sector has faced growing pressure from inflation, fuel prices and rising telecom expenses over the past two years.

Industry analysts say drivers working for digital mobility platforms increasingly demand additional financial support and benefits to offset operating costs.

Speaking about the partnership, Miral Sharif said the company wanted to address a key challenge faced by drivers.

“Partner drivers are the backbone of our operations at Yango, and our support for them goes beyond just business,” Sharif said.

“Good internet connectivity is important for them to work smoothly and efficiently. Through our partnership with Jazz Business, we are bringing a solution that solves for a real need, all while improving livelihoods, easing financial pressure, and making sure drivers are better equipped for their journey on the road”.

The partnership marks a broader collaboration between Pakistan’s mobility and telecom sectors as companies seek to improve service reliability and platform engagement.

Industry observers say affordable internet access remains critical for drivers because ride requests, GPS navigation, digital payments and customer communication all depend on uninterrupted connectivity.

Mobility Platforms Expand Driver Benefits

Yango Pakistan has recently increased efforts to expand welfare and incentive programmes for partner drivers across the country.

Earlier this year, the company introduced a “Benefits Hub” offering drivers access to discounts and subsidised services in areas including healthcare, fuel, groceries, lubricants and education.

Digital mobility platforms operating in Pakistan have also started competing more aggressively through driver support initiatives as the market grows more crowded.

Careem and inDrive have also introduced various incentive and support programmes in recent years to retain drivers and improve service standards.

Analysts say telecom partnerships could become increasingly common as ride hailing companies seek to reduce driver churn and strengthen long term platform loyalty.
