IMF review follows May funding approval
The talks follow the IMF Executive Board’s completion of Pakistan’s third EFF review and second RSF review on May 8, 2026.
That decision unlocked approximately $1.1 billion under the EFF and $220 million under the RSF. It brought total disbursements under both arrangements to about $4.8 billion.

The IMF approved Pakistan’s 37-month EFF arrangement on September 25, 2024. Its priorities include rebuilding reserves, broadening the tax base, reforming state-owned enterprises and improving energy sector finances.
The lender subsequently approved the approximately $1.4 billion RSF arrangement in May 2025. That facility supports measures to reduce Pakistan’s exposure to natural disasters and strengthen climate resilience.
