Samsung appears to have offered its clearest look yet at a wider Galaxy Z Fold 8 through a new promotional film for Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
The teaser follows Peter Parker as his phone suffers damage during his crime-fighting life. A machine called the Fabricator creates Galaxy devices designed to survive the chaos behind the mask.
The video closes with the line, “A brand new shape for a brand new day.” The wording strongly hints at Samsung’s rumoured wide-body foldable. Samsung keeps the main device partly hidden with glare and blur, but brief shots show it opening like a book.
Spider-Man Teaser Puts Fold 8 in Focus
Samsung confirmed that the campaign combines an original story set in Peter Parker’s apartment with footage from the Marvel and Sony film. The campaign will continue during Galaxy Unpacked on July 22.
The advertisement also gives viewers a quick look at what appears to be the Galaxy Z Flip 8. However, the wider Fold model receives most of the attention.
Samsung had already teased a “new shape” through an Unpacked image linked to Spider-Man: Brand New Day. It appeared to show a thin, wide frame, two rear cameras and side buttons near the upper edge.
The company has not confirmed the device’s name or specifications. Reports describe it as a shorter, wider foldable with a passport-style body. That design would replace the tall cover screen used by earlier Fold models.
Three Foldables Expected at Unpacked
Samsung could introduce three foldable phones in London. Reports point to a Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide, a traditional Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and the clamshell Galaxy Z Flip 8.
The wider model could offer a phone-like outer screen and a tablet-sized internal display. Its proportions may resemble the original Google Pixel Fold and Huawei’s Pura X Max more closely than Samsung’s current design.
The change could make the phone easier to use when closed. It could also improve video viewing when unfolded.
The device may compete directly with Apple’s first foldable iPhone. Reports suggest Apple could release its wider foldable later in 2026.
Samsung has scheduled Galaxy Unpacked for July 22 in London under the theme “A New Shape Unfolds.” The event starts at 2pm British Summer Time. Samsung will stream it through its website, newsroom and YouTube channel.
Watches and Smart Glasses May Also Appear
The foldables may share the stage with the Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2. Samsung could also announce a release date for its first “Galaxy Glasses,” reportedly powered by Google’s Android XR platform.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day will reach cinemas on July 31. Destin Daniel Cretton directed the film, while Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers wrote it.
Tom Holland returns as Peter Parker alongside Zendaya, Jon Bernthal, Sadie Sink and Liza Colón-Zayas. Sony also lists Jacob Batalon, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando and Mark Ruffalo among the cast.
