The US passport Trump image plan has moved forward as the U.S. Department of State prepares to issue a limited number of commemorative passports featuring an image of Donald Trump, marking the 250th anniversary of American independence.
According to official details, the new passports will include a portrait of Donald Trump printed on an interior page, alongside imagery of the United States Declaration of Independence and the American flag.

The design also incorporates the president’s signature in gold, along with artwork depicting the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Officials said the passports will be part of broader “America250” celebrations scheduled around July 2026.
The rollout will remain limited in scale. Reports indicate that between 25,000 and 30,000 copies will be issued through the Washington passport office, while standard passports will continue to be available through regular channels.

Authorities confirmed that the new passports will retain all existing security features, including biometric elements and anti-counterfeiting protections.
Part of Broader Changes to Official Symbols
The passport update forms part of a wider set of initiatives tied to the 250th anniversary celebrations. Officials have also announced commemorative items such as coins and national programmes linked to the milestone.
In addition, last month, the United States Department of the Treasury confirmed that the president’s signature would begin appearing on US dollar currency, marking another change in official federal symbols.

Analysts note that these steps represent a coordinated effort to update national imagery during a landmark historical anniversary. The passport redesign reflects both commemorative goals and continued emphasis on modern document features.
Context of Passport Design and Security
The United States passport remains one of the most widely used travel documents globally, with more than 180 million in circulation.
The State Department periodically updates passport designs to enhance security and reflect national heritage. Modern US passports include biometric chips, machine-readable zones, and layered printing technology designed to prevent fraud.
The commemorative version will follow the same technical standards required under international aviation guidelines. At the same time, it introduces new visual elements linked to the country’s founding anniversary.
