World Cup 2027 Tickets: Applications Pass 15 Million

Ticket applications for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027 have exceeded 15 million, with fans from 142 countries entering the ballot.

The International Cricket Council said on Tuesday that 4,423,417 ballot registrations covered requests for 15,083,752 tickets as of Monday. The figures reflect applications, rather than completed ticket sales or confirmed attendance.

The ballot opened on October 1, attracting the requests within its first 12 days. Demand had already passed one million applications in less than three days, according to an earlier ICC update.

South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia will jointly host the tournament’s 14th edition, which features an expanded field and revised competition format.

Fans across 142 countries seek tickets

The United Kingdom, South Africa, India, the United States and Australia lead demand, the ICC said.

ICC Chief Executive Officer Sanjog Gupta linked the response to the tournament’s appeal, its African hosts and promotional efforts.

“The overwhelming demand for tickets is testament to the stature and appeal of the Cricket World Cup, the allure of Africa as a destination and the anticipation for the event generated by the ICC and its partners’ promotional activities leading up to the event launch,” Gupta said.

“With a year to go, the ICC has planned an exciting runway of 360 degree activations, multi-platform campaigns and content line-ups, which will elevate the fandom associated with the ICC Cricket World Cup 2027.”

The tournament will mark the men’s ODI World Cup’s return to Africa for the first time since 2003. Namibia will host matches in the senior tournament for the first time.

Ballot remains open until November 21

Fans can register until 11:59pm Central Africa Time on November 21, 2026, through tickets.cricketworldcup.com.

The deadline falls exactly one year before the scheduled final at the Wanderers in Johannesburg.

Entry is free, and submitting an application earlier does not improve a fan’s chances. The ICC will treat all valid entries equally throughout the registration period.

Applicants can select as many matches as they wish and request up to four tickets per match. Each match counts as a separate entry.

A random ballot will determine purchase opportunities for oversubscribed matches. Successful applicants will receive an email with a specified payment window.

Registering does not guarantee tickets, and fans do not need to pay when entering the ballot.

New format features 57 matches

The 2027 tournament will feature 14 teams and 57 matches across 12 venues.

A preliminary Super Series will involve the three lowest-ranked qualified teams. Only its winner will progress to the 12-team group stage.

Two groups of six will then determine seven qualifiers for a Super 7 round. Each team in that round will face every other side once.

The top four will advance to the semi-finals, followed by the final. The structure gives the tournament three competition stages before the knockout matches.
