DIB Opens Sarai Alamgir Branch, Targets 75 New Branches

Dubai Islamic Bank Pakistan has opened a branch at New Metro City, Sarai Alamgir, as it pushes ahead with nationwide expansion. The bank says it remains on track to open another 75 branches during 2026.

In a statement issued from Lahore on September 23, DIB Pakistan said leading local community figures welcomed the opening. It described the initial response as strong, with the branch gaining momentum from its first day.

The opening forms part of the bank’s “Monumental Expansion” initiative, which aims to extend its footprint across Pakistan.

CEO outlines nationwide expansion plans

Muhammad Ali Gulfaraz, chief executive officer of DIB Pakistan, inaugurated the branch. Business leaders, community representatives and key stakeholders from Sarai Alamgir and surrounding areas attended the ceremony.

Speaking at the inauguration, Gulfaraz said, “DIB is expanding at a remarkable pace. Building on our strong momentum from last year, we are on track to open another 75 branches this year. Our objective is to establish a powerful, comprehensive presence across every region of Pakistan while delivering a world-class international banking experience to our valued customers”.

The bank said its expansion targets fast-growing commercial centres and aims to bring international banking closer to communities nationwide.

It also seeks to expand its physical network alongside its digital capabilities, giving customers more ways to access banking services.

Local businesses highlight account and deposit needs

During the visit, DIB Pakistan’s management met members of the local business community to discuss the region’s evolving financial requirements.

Their discussions covered company accounts, remittance accounts and foreign currency deposits. These areas formed a specific focus of the management team’s engagement with businesses and other stakeholders.

According to the bank’s statement, customers welcomed the addition of a modern banking branch in the area. They expressed hope that it would support regional economic development and business growth.

The Sarai Alamgir opening adds a local service point within the bank’s wider expansion programme. DIB said it would continue investing in network infrastructure, service quality and technology to support that programme.

The bank linked these investments to sustainable growth, greater customer access and economic activity across urban and regional centres.

Expansion builds on established Pakistan presence

DIB Pakistan began operations in 2006 and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Dubai Islamic Bank in the United Arab Emirates.

Its parent bank dates back to 1975, giving the Pakistani operation an international connection within the Islamic banking sector.

Beyond branch expansion, DIB Pakistan has also developed links to support business customers engaged in international trade.

An IFC project disclosure described an unfunded trade finance facility of up to $20 million for DIB Pakistan. The facility covers transactions with tenors of up to one year, adding context to the bank’s broader business banking activities.
